New to me...
Hello everyone. I just found this forum and would like some advice about my car. 6 months ago, I bought a 92 CV LX with 32K miles at an estate sale. The owner parked it in the winter and was maticulous with the maintanance(great record keeping). It also sat for the last 2 years due to his illness. I've learned that it burns about 1qt of oil every 3K miles and both cats have corroded(leak). I've done all of the maintanance items that I could think of except trans fluid. Is this acceptable oil consumption? What are my options with the catalytic converters? Every suggestion counts. Thanks in advance!

Re: New to me...
You have only two viable options with the cats, replace with OE units (new only), or replace with aftermarket parts (will require welding).
Oil consumption less than one qt/1,000 miles is considered acceptable by the manufacturer. |

I'm not sure if they still do, but NAPA used to sell aftermarket bolt on cats for that year. Will not hurt to check-OEM ones run about 600-700 each, and having a/m's welded in at an exhaust shop can cost as much as 500 per side. |
