SPEC Stage 3 clutch

so how long are these things supposed to last?

I was trying to follow my girlfriend around in her car, and she made a quick left, and I needed to stay behind her, so I reved it up and backed off the clutch quickly. It spun the tires a little, but then they grabbed, and my revs got way to high for how fast I was going (slipping), so I hit 2nd to take care of it, and it slips there too. I hit 3rd, and slips a little and then grabs.

I've put about 6k miles on this clutch, and why the HELL!! is a clutch thats supposed to hold 345ft/lbs, slipping under maybe 180 at the flywheel.

no leaks were found on the tranny or motor when I took the old clutch out and replaced it with the SPEC stage 3, and there was no excess of oil on the pressure plate or anything.

Is this just something to expect when you daily drive a stage 3 clutch, and should I go with something less hardcore?

Re: SPEC Stage 3 clutch

yea thats something they found out that is wrong with spec clutches they do not hold the load they are supposed to...lots of people have this problem...thats why you should go with an ACT, exedy, or clutchmaster...

i can honestly vouch for the Clutchmaster Stage 3...thats what i have, i have yet to have a problem with it...has about 10-15k on it now, and no slipping...grabs hard every time. have gone drifting with it, dragged it, and its still nice for the street...granted im not running a 400lbs monster, but i beat the hell out of mine and love it.

beaten the shit out of mine many of times, many...
launches consecutively, has seen hourse of track time, ~330whp, or somewhere in there, and running 13.065 1/4 mile times.
mine hasnt slipped once.
i love it, it feels almost like stock, with a little stiffer feel.

Re: SPEC Stage 3 clutch

exedy is WAYY better than spec. the hyper single is supposed to be a great clutch, but im worried as to how much exactly it will hold... highly doubt it will hold anything more than 400 ft-lbs reliably.

ummm...

Exedy only makes a clutch for the KA24DE in their Organic Single plate..So ACT is my brand of choice i guess.

Damn SR bitches and your availability of parts
