Fuel Smell when Shutting Car Off!!
Hi. This is my first post as I have just found this site and there is a lot of good info.
My problem is with a 94 Z28 5.7 (P) When I shut my car off after driving it I get a strong fuel smell coming from the car. Then it goes away. I usually don't smell anything when driving just when shutting it down. I have looked at everything and can't find any leaks at all. I just bought this car about a month ago and have put tons of money into it already. I was just getting this as a little fixer upper till the new camaros come out in 2009. I am also having a problem with hesitation and surging when driving. I replaced the plugs and wires and that took care of the problem the first time as it had a cracked wire. It ran fine for 3 days then started surging and hesitating again on the way to work this morning. It only did it for about 5 minutes then it was fine. I think I'm going to replace the 0xygen sensor today and see how that does. From what I have been reading, most people have replaced the O2 sensor and coil pack with similar symptoms to mine. Any help with either of these two problems will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

Re: Fuel Smell when Shutting Car Off!!
Actually, Ithink your 2 problems are really 1, a leak in one of the fuel lines. On 3rd gens, the common spot is the soft line connection at the rear axle, not sure but good chance 4th's use the same idear.

I agree, I think it is probably a leak in the fuel line somewhere. Get a big piece of cardboard or something and park it over it for a night hopefully it'll help you find the leak... And don't get your hopes up about the camaro coming back, so far it's just rumors...

Thanks, I'll give it a try.
Well, Hopefully they bring back the Camaro...if they use the design that was made by that kid it will be an awesome looking car. |
