Smile Out with the Old!

Well the old stock bumper came off tonight fairly easy. 6, 18mm nuts from the outside is all it takes. It's easier if you remove the bumperettes first. All that holds them on is 6 phillips screws. You also need to squeeze off the liscence plate lights and the plate itself. Also three clips hold the light harness to the bumper that need to be removed FIRST before sliding the bumper out! Took less than an hour!

I'll post pictures of the Calmini going on tomorrow night!

For an unemployed student, you must have a lot of dough stashed around the house. No wonder you have so many guns.

Next outing we'll have to tie the rear bumpers together and have a pull off.

I did my own tow hitch - it was easy as hell. Take out your spare, take off the rear bumper and be very careful of the license plate lights - you have to unclip them from underneath or you will rip out the wiring.

The tow hitch basically slides into the frame and then the bumper goes back on. The hardest thing was that the holes did not match on mine and the Nissan bolt setup is such that the bolts are stuck in a set plate so there is no room to maneuver. After trying to drill and spending much effort I decided to dump those and went and got some heavy duty bolts that were "stand-alone" and used them instead. Been perfect ever since and a handy addition to have for trailering.
It will drag when off road but it will also be protecting your spare.

Cheers

Putting the SC on is the easy part. Getting the power to the ground is a whole new animal. What would you say if I told you I watched a Suzuki Samurai pull a big block Blazer out the back door on a pull-off? BTW, the Sammie was running a small block. I also saw a Jeep Cherokee take a Ford Super Duty out the back door on the same pull-off. You will be surprised what a truck can do if it is set up properly.

Gordon

Gordon, we were teasing each other!

How is your Calmini bumper doing? Any squeeks or rattles?

They goofed up and only shipped me the swing-arm! The rest of the bumper will arrive Friday or Monday!
Looking at the welds and build quality is excellent! Real nice powdercoating too! Grey to match the bumperettes and other molding.

Shipping me an RC Xterra too for the troubles!

<offtopic question>

Rick, I know "Pie iesu domine... (Whack) ...dona eis requiem" comes from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, but what's it mean?

As a celibate monk, I can not reveal the ancient words!

But I think it means;

Conscientious Jesus the lord, the gifts to them rest.

But that was like 22 years ago in high school that I had Latin!
