whats up everybody...been a while...but anyways...i dont know much about trannys but seeing as to how putting a manual into an auto is so expensive...mainly because of the clutch ect. can you put a sportstronic in for cheaper? if so out of what car? are there any cars with a simalar power rating with a closer gear ratio simalar to the eclipse tranny? just a thought...thanks

I don't think so, because I have never heard of it being tried yet. Would be cool if somebody actually knew though, or can say that they have seen it done or tried it.

Re: 2g Sportstronic?

The only tranny I could see maaybe being compatible with a sporstronic shift is a newer mitsu, like a 3g eclipse. Either way, the sportstronic shift is just about the same as an automatic it just lets you pick when you want to shift it. There is no clutch or anything and you can't do to much with it just like an automatic. A sportstronic is pretty much an automatic. Besides why would you ever want to turn a manual into an automatic? Unless you are building a straight out drag car it doesn't make much sense.

Re: 2g Sportstronic?
i dont have a manual to begin with...i have an auto...i just thought if it wasnt much more than a new auto tranny...if mine were to decide to go out...i may try to put one in...but i just wanted to know if it had been done and how much i was looking at...i would probably just invest in a turbo kit if i had the money but it was just a question...

There's no reason to believe they'd bolt up together. This would end up more expensive, I think.
Stick with the auto or dish out the money for the manual.
