4g63 Stealth...

This is just a fancy idea at the moment... but would it be too hard to throw a 4g63, say Evo engine in a Base Stealth.. I was wondering how much that would take... b/c I know someone who's selling an engine very cheap... and the idea hit me... plz don't laugh, as I said this is just an idea... I haven't put too much thought into it yet...

Re: 4g63 Stealth...

How about this
6 > 4
3.0 > 2.0

So why do all the custom work to make a smaller engine fit in the car. No one, I repeat, no one custom installs a smaller engine in a car. Anytime an engine is swapped for another one there 1 of 2 reasons for it, its bigger, or it makes more power. A 4g63 fails on both acounts.

Re: 4g63 Stealth...

well, I'd be going from SOHC, to 4g63... to my knowledge, the Evo's putting out 276 hp... way more than I'd be doing stock... more than I got for now... but I have also had those thoughts pop in my head since I posted the first comment...

Re: Re: 4g63 Stealth...

Theoretically, you can do it. Would it be wise? Nah. Expensive? Very. Time consuming? Yes.

The Evo also has a decent sized turbo, I believe a 16g, that's how it gets to that hp level. Larger than most stock turbos to my knowledge.

Not always. I can almost assure you that the 4g63 can handle more hp than whatever engine is in his stealth, without upgrading internals. There have been people with 500+ hp on stock 4g63 engines, without problems. I don't know if you can say that for the SOHC 3.0, correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: 4g63 Stealth...

yeah, I got a friend with an MR edition EVO, he put in a MBC, and a fmu... and upped boost.. running a/b 320 hp, changed out nothing else... though he's got a lot more money than I...

I was wondering... what other engines would be easily transplanted into the Stealth (by easily, I simply mean, can yield high #'s, and will line up with motor mounts...)...
I've heard that you could simply throw in the 6g74 and boost it...

Re: 4g63 Stealth...

um, the 4g63 and the 6g74 are not dirrect swaps.

You say you can get a cheep 4g63, is that the 4g63 from an evo? I highly doubt it.

You want an easy 320hp, buy the vr4 that is for sale on here for 2 grand and swap the motor. That is the cheepest way you will get 320 hp into your car. Then you can up the boost, and prolly get close to 360-380.

So back to my original post

NO!

Re: 4g63 Stealth...

true... I just knew someone who was selling theirs... and yes in fact... the EVO 4g63... car got totaled.. insurance write-off... he bought the car back for like $100... so he's parting out what he can... he's already made more than he had invested in the car, btwn the insurance check and what he was able to sell

Re: 4g63 Stealth...

The only motor that swaps in is the 6g72

Re: 4g63 Stealth...

I got an idea lets make a wind up 3000gt, we can get the wind up crank, spring and input shaft from one of those little clown car toys and swap it in. Come on its an idea, or you could just follow the 3si na upgrade bible... http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread.php?t=85924
hey slowly upgrading is better than never.
