Question a few questions about my 93 Blazer

Hello
I bought this Blazer about 5 months ago and it only has 63k miles but needs a little TLC. I put in the new fuel lines and nut kit and a new CPI while I was in there and now it runs like a scalded dog. Thought I would thank everyone for their help with the replacement and all the pictures on the forum. Anyhow I have a few things that need fixing, one of which is the Keyless entry. It has factory keyless entry but has a very strange problem with it. The lock and unlock buttons work on the remote fine but the rear hatch will not pop with the remote or the switch on the dash. The funny thing is that it worked when I bought it. It only came with one remote so I am in the process of trying to locate a second remote for it but want to fix this problem also. Could it have a bad switch in the dash? When I press the switch I can hear the clicking under the console when I either press the button on the remote or the dash. Anyone have any ideas? I noticed that the rear defroster doesn't work because 3 of the wires have rotted off, but I didn't know if these two problems are connected.
Thanks in advance
Mike

I had a '91 bravada with similar problems. When i got it the keyless entry didnt work, the hatch release on the dash wouldnt work as well as the power locks. I had to use a key for everything. I replaced the hatch release button, and i could use that button instead of my key, but not on the remote. Then I bought a new remote modulator mounted in the center console and it restored my power locks and the rear hatch on the remote. So id go with a new hatch release button. Its easy to replace and worked for me. Since i replaced the hatch button first than the modulator i cant assuredly say it will restore the hatch release for your remote but its cheap enough to have no regrets.
