replace 3.0l with a 3.5 l engine.

Hi Guys,

I'm new here so please forgive me if this has been discussed earlier, but I have not found it.

I have a 1987 730i and either have a cracked head gasket or head. I have found a good 735 engine for much cheaper than getting the repairs done on my engine. Hence my question is, "does anyone here know if this would be an easy swap, or would I have all sorts of problems?"

From what I have read so far, I believe the blocks to be the same. Also, I believe that the same 4 speed auto was used for both, so I believe it would be a simple swap. However, as I have never actually worked on any of my BMW's over the years, I felt it smarter to ask you guys for your help.

Cheers and thanks,

rupena
