water leaking out of exhaust pipe

i never noticed this before but i do believe it just started. im running a straight pipe no centre muffler instalation and today when i was warming up my car, after a couple of minutes i noticed a puddle of water on the floor. i lookded under the car and i could clearly see water dripping from the exhaust pipe. the car didnt seem louder than usual or anything, but theres a pretty large sum of water dripping out. i was wondering if this is normal, because i havent driven the car in about a day or two.

Re: water leaking out of exhaust pipe

Are you new to owning a vehicle? Did you recently move to a different climate? Every gasoline car, truck, or SUV ever made collects condensation in the exhaust overnight (just think of an ice cold beer bottle by the pool). For anyone who lives above the snow belt, the water that collects in the exhaust (most specifically the muffler) also absorbs environmental salt (road salt). That's why people who make very short trips replace the muffler very frequently... they never cook out all the salty-moisture sitting in the pipes.

If it's still puffing out small clouds when the engine is fully warmed, you have a cracked head or bad piston rings. If it's dripping water when it's still cold... just think of it as a car's form of "sleepy dirt" (the gunk in the corner of your eyes when you just wake up)

also im not concerned about dripping water from the muffler, it is leaking exactly from the pipe at the spot where it ws welded
