very fat delta

hi guys
just a new job in my work area after a little clean-up
hasegawa superdelta, nothing special about that, someone already mount that stuff
BUT... tatan i found out finally the s27 -forlongtimedreamed- PE kit for this beast

what I love too much in this set are front grilles, awesome set in 2 anodyzations, black and steel. I remember I was impressed abt 10-12 years ago when I mount my Racing43 1/43 deltona: a lot of little grilles one over others! fun. Now I have that in 1/24.
Notes: abt body - standard preparation, wrong fuel cap putted, at left I mount the PE fuel cap cover. sanded, primed, and blablabla... I quickly polish the body due to the fact that I 'd like to clearcoat all over decalling, so I could do a better finishing after, for now i need a decently smooth surface for decals.

abt decals: have a look on original box decals: around 12-13 years old.

I heard something abt these kind but my, guys, was just s..t. I redesing in illustrator the intended set and print trought my epson SP2100, not bad, but better the new set I purchase (with a reisuued kit also ) see and believe

so excuse for too much word and another time for my poor english
soon with update: I'm enjoying this italian stuff

Re: very fat delta

Are those your drawn and printed decals in the center? If so they look great. I'll be very interested to follow your progress with the S27 PE set too. Good luck building this machine. Lord knows Carlos Sainz didn't have any driving it!

Hello,
nice project with S27 PE transkit...
Pay attention to the color of the rear wing, it has to be blue not orange as the building manual let it see if I remember well what I've had to do when I built it a few years ago.
you have to verify the position of the exhaust pipe, It did'nt came out at the rear of the car all the season but at the right side for the second part of the season (but which rally does this second part start from, I couldn't swear now...? )
happy building, I will follow your progress

Re: very fat delta

I'm going to watch this one with interest Giovanni. Can you give us more details on the decal papers you've used please? Are you using an inkjet - the results look really good to me!

thanks a lot for advise me, Phil
honestly instruction set h12 flat black and h326 blue insthad, strange. So I'm quetly worryed abt this kind of blue, it should be close to decals color. Since I still using 3 decs sets, I could cover by a spare decal

Abt exaust I need to check better: cool a side exaust! I done the acropolis version , at the end.

Hey John , have a look on your site: we all are nail down at our desks and you turn aroun with that sweet? congratulate if your, fantastic stuff

abt question: as said, to make short a long....
1- first kit(12-14 YO) had decals craked and yellowed, also I try to apply Hasegawa brand on a can and it's no horrible
2- I made my sheet trought vector graphics (Illustrator) on Testors decals paper: David (SRC) sent me 1 pack. The strange is that: every paper I try on my epson stylus photo 2100 raccomend you to print at 360 dpi! this should be right for drying problrms becouse the printer give less ink, in the other hand the printer is too fast to let the ink dry correctly. I lost almost the entire pack trying and at the end I found out a solution for that paper:
- basically the problem is drying, so is better print at 2400/4800 or max res. and so turn speed to minimum
- isn't enough to let drying inks on that paper, dragging wheels could keep all the ink: so I disabled (from up with tape) all the dragging wheels except the 2 at the sides: you need to print behind these 2 wheels, and let the inks dry for a lot... then coat.
I try also with my old epson 1200 which have not pigmented inks on that paper and work very bad, like a wrong photographic paper.

3 the better I found out are BMF "Expert Choice" paper: i try the transparent kind with a complex and really small carbon texture having great results, al least like SMS sheets. Unfortunatly I havent here right now.
4 at my local store I check one new delta box and decals was ok, so I buy it. So I'm at work with these decals: a nightmare better the old cracked one, was cracked but react well at set/sol. These new react bad: look ok if you use nothing or set&water solution. Delta is like a shoes box but have some complex shapes. It come out not bad but took me a lot of time: soon a photo update

Re: very fat delta

Thanks for the info Giovanni - it's so useful that I've printed it off. My printer is the old 1200 and I've had really bad results using oridinary decal print paper. Illustrator is the easy bit for me as I'm a designer too!

Thanks for the compliment on the Spyder - it took me 5 years to build. I've run out of garage space so it's back to the smaller stuff for now. I'm quite keen on Italian stuff too, before the Spyder I had a road/track '96 Cinquecento (hence my name) and a chipped 16V Thema turbo...both great cars, but a major worry to look after. I'm just starting on the Doyusha '77 Monte Stratos...I'll post progress if it goes well.

share and don't worry for the result: I'm also just new here but what I feel is everybody share what have (fine or poor) as a contribution to the community knowledge, not to show his skills, everyone here could have more help from a friend's disaster than from a masterpiece, also you can find here a lot of great masters happy to help everyone
so is the intended stratos the 1/12 kind?: i'm courious

Re: very fat delta

Yep, it's the 1/12th version...still trying to get reference for it now. I'm not sure if to start it yet or not as I'm doing a 1/8th E-type which I'm getting stuck on. I had an idea of building both at once but I know it's not a recommended way to work.

just a quick update: decal work come up fast, to skip at PE stage and detail work, next clearcoat

abt decal work: not easy, it took me a lot of time: decals very strong (as Bristol paper) and really react strange to MicroSet, a little better sit. with Sol. Also this sheet was darkened in some transparent parts so I cut almost the shapes near coloured edges and something in few parts (totip and repsol stripes) not bad at the end, may be good with polished clear on. Arrgh can't wait for front grids! soon

And guys, thanks a lot for your posts here, that made me the hi-motivation

Wow... the photo in the last post (thanks NY2000) seems to prove that the exhaust pipe was still running to the rear of the car on the Acropolis version...!
and we can easyly notice the rear wing color, too...! it's blue, like repsol stripes, no doubt !
