2000 Silhouette ABS Idiot Light

Hi There! The ABS Warning light is on. Will having a normal brake repair (pads and rotors turned) make it go off, or is this indicative of something else?

Also, every once in a while the oil warning light comes on accompanied by a chime. Oil is full, no change in how the engine is running or increased heat, just the chime. Maybe just a sensor or something (I hope, I hope)?

Thanks

Re: 2000 Silhouette ABS Idiot Light

The ABS light won't be fixed by a break job. There was a malfunction somewhere in the electrical sensor circuits. The usual cause of this is a wheel speed sensor located as part of the hub/bering assembly.

The oil light could be a malfunctioning sensor or possibly low oil pressure (failed oil pump, leak, etc).

Both problems should be looked at soon.
