royal purple

i did some searching and i didnt find anything about it so here it is. Has anyone switched over to royal purple in their engines, tranny, and or rear diff for the awd guys? I did some research and on average the got about 9 extra hp by running royal purple, I was really wondering if it would be ok to use royal purple in the tranny and rear diff?

I hate to state the obvious, but if you just plan on putting it in the tranny and rear diff., you won't see a hp gain, so I hope that is not your intent. If you plan on using their motor oil, chances are you will get a few ponies out of it because of the quality of the oil, but then you chance leaks because it is synthetic, and a very liquid-like one at that.

It will, however, run smoother. Those guys that make that royal purple shit know what their doing, and charge a lot for it.

BTW, no, I am not using it, but like you I did my research before making my decision. Wasn't worth the risk to me, my car had 55k at the time, and I would rather not deal with the possibility of leaks.

Re: royal purple

the reason you see gains by putting it in the trans and rear diff is because it has less friction so there isnt as big of a hp loss through the drive train, granted its not going to be alot but anything helps right. as far as the price its only about $1 more than mobile 1 which im running right now with no leaks what so ever. all i really wanted to know is will it be compatible with the tranny and diff because i know it takes a cirtan kind of fuild for a reason, I just dont happen to know off hand what that would be
