swap woes

got the d15 b vtec in. Drives fine in first gear but has no power in any other gear. Also a small fire started in the heater box... thats what the mechanic says anyways.... what coulda caused this? He denies any responsibility.

Well he says that it was an electrical short. no oil in coolant, no smoking and great compression. Any ideas?

I don't see how an electrical short would cause loss of power in 2-5 gear. Sounds like he is BSin you.

a short in the wiring could cause a small fire in your heater box.

as far as the engine not having any power. what tranny r u using ? have you done a tune up on the engine ?

so he could have caused the short by mis-wiring something?

I'm using the si tranny, has no grings at all and ran fine prior to the swap. What kind of tune up do you suggest?
