Strange trans shifting on cold mornings

I just purchased a 1996 Sunfire and so far I'm very happy with it. One of the strange things it does do is, on cold mornings, the automatic trans. seems to shift strangely, it will shift early then late, until it warms up, then it shifts just fine. This shifting is not a real noticable thing, but I do notice it. I had a Ford Van several years ago that did the same thing and got many good years out of it, the trans. never went out, but it always shifted different when cold. Does anyone else have this same problem?

Check to see if the tranny looks new. Either way, the bands on the inside may need to be tightened. I heard something a while ago that if you ever have a tranny replaced, drive it for about 100 miles, then take it in to get the bands tightened. I recently had a remanufactured one put into my 97 GT and it seems like it slips in first gear, but when it warms up, its fine. It's under warranty so I will be taking it in for them to fix it.
