rear wiper and window cleaner problem on 99 passat wagon

I have a 1999 gls wagon w/ a few problems and i'll start w/the following two:

1. The rear windshield wiper works but moves a small bit at a time pauses then goes a little further pauses again until it reaches the end of the window then it repeats the process back. I imagine it is an easy fix but I don't know how to remove the outer shell casing and I don't want to damage it.

2. The passenger side windshield washer fluid sprayer, for the front window, works but has detached from where it was mounted under the hood. I looked at it but could not figure out how to reattach it.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Don't have an answer for you, but I would like to ask your opinion on your Passat. How long have you had it, and how many miles is on it? I'm looking to purchase a 99 Passat with 91,000 miles and this might concern me on an American made vehicle but what do you think about the Passat & mileage. Are high mileage cars usually an issue with Passets?

Open the liftgate.Find the several little plastic push pins. They are each in two pieces. Pop ALL those out. Then, look for a few to several screws.Take those out. Now you can remove that inner liner.Thats where to look for the connections to the wiper motor. Shine them up a little. The Squirter is easy to repair. It can be fixed with Ace Hardware plastic parts.OR, WallyMart- Look in the Aquarium section. If you have something missing, as far as anchoring them-- use cable ties.

hahaha. My green 1991 GL Wagon. WOOT! I have over 999 thousand-- yepper. I said 999 thousand. 999,836 to be exact. I love it.Although I am a mechanic, and it is maintained way more than your average neighbors car--but..thats another story. "German Cars Rule" or I'll own Nothing. That is my motto. I have never owned an American car my entire life. Though, I have driven quite a few. They will one day break down too. I drive all over the globe. So, in my case its extreme mileage. Not just jaunts to and from the grocery store. ( but--stay away from any that are assembled in Mexico) B L A H !!! No charisma down there. No passion. No dedication.

Besides the electrical problems I've had the car is great. It just turned 80k. VW's are solid cars that are not only good to look at but a blast to drive. Their interiors are far superior in quality and aesthetics to their american counterparts... I've never owned american either.

I had 19 Vw's in my lifetime.Im now 37.I bought my latest in fall of 1991.The Passat is the cleanest body line among them all.Thats my opinion...ok, I love it. It had 12,000 on the clock. (obvious 6-12 mos lease )
I drive over 62,000 a year with this car. " I Dare to be the Uniquest one on the block." The wiring and electrics are easily fixed if you know where to start. Ive never had any warranty work like so many others are always complaining about. American cars are so "cookie cutter" it aint even funny. When I see a gm counterpart-- it makes me see no more than a buick, pont, cavasmear, or the final ride to death for the CamarSlo...hahaha. He-- yes!! man . I love my German innovation on wheels!!
My pop has a 1990 Audi 200 Turbo. 220,000 miles. Its still hauling A-- and starts everyday! He got his only 3 speeding tickets in his last 60 years of driving in that car. The last two times, it was the same lady Ohio State patrolman. She waits for him still...sometimes. Talk about a woman on a mission. Thanks...thats my 2 bits.
