cant figure it out?

The VW shop has had my car (95 jetta ) for over a month!! They keep telling me its fixed and its not... So here it is.

The car seemed to die on me while driving. So I took it in and they said it is the igniton.. Nope. so they replaced the temp senser...Nope.. then they said the plug and coil was bad.. Nope.. Still dies!! Then they replaced the crank senser.. and the fuel silinoid.. Nope.. So I keeped the car this last week and found it only died on me in the first 10 min of driving...? It would start back up all the time as long as you took the key out and wait 20 seconds before starting it up. Then I notice it only died when the car was not warmed up? so I started warming it up and so far (4 days) and it has'nt died.

What I need to know is what next?
I feel as if im going crazy...

Angry

I am having the same problem with my 96. It started dying while driving. It would sometimes restart and sometimes not. Each time I had it towed to the shop it would start fine and the shop insisted that there was nothing wrong. The replaced the ignition switch, but the problem still occurred. I asked the shop to check the TPS, fuel pump and fuel filter. They said all were ok. I drove the car home and now it wont start at all. This is extremely frustrating! Any suggestions?

Re: cant figure it out?

You might try removing the MAF mass air flow sensor and gently cleaning it with q-tip and mild cleaner like diluted 409 or alcohol. Be gentle as the thin wire inside is very delicate and it's a very expensive part. Oil blowback can get it oily and dirty, therefore it doesn't detect air intake temperature accurately. It's connected to the back of air filter box, two screws and wire connect. Don't lose the o-ring holding it in. Also old cap, and old plug wires can cause low ignition. I had a bad wire once which left me sometimes stranded, sometimes not, total freak show.
