Looks vs Speed

Hiya
Im new to the forums, and know only a little bout cars.
Anywayz I recentally came into some money ($3200) and currently have been acting on the advice of my friends. I own a 6g Civic ex and it currently only has intake/exhaust/height upgraded. -Right, so... my friends have pretty much talked me into spending the money on a body kit as well as interior accessorys. My question is weather people here feel that you should upgrade the speed before the looks. I know it looks tight to have a tricked out car with ground effects/lighting. But i think it's nicer to smoke a mustang at a stop light. Whats your guys advice?

Re: Looks vs Speed

im just trying to figure out why a mustang is like, the standardized "i want to beat" car... ?
like the dude @ the car place sparq and i went to.... "yeah, i have one of these....but mine will hang w/ a mustang..." big fuckin deal!
they've turned into mom cars now anyway. i see more rich_moms driving them now than i do car enthusiasts. mustangs are boring, ugly.

And then both of you guys w/ you sewing maching powered cars get passed by a moped w/ a 5hp Engine and he goes on to put 5 car lengths on you. Racing an EX vs a DX is like a 10 speed bike vs a golden retriever.

Mustangs, seems to me, are the kind of cars that rich parents buy for their kids. I hate the fact that stock wise, they can kick your ass off the line (Even when you have a standard, and their automatic) don't get me wrong, I have total respect for people who heavily mod a mustang, just not those new stock peices that are always at the mall.

If I were you...

I'd drop in an APEXi ball bearing turbo kit or... save more money for the biggest engine swap I could afford + a turbo kit. Phuck a kit...

Sorry... I've been on a ball bearing turbo fix for quite some time now... :hehe:

as i see it they are the standard car to beat because they have been the lowest grade muscle car you can buy almost always that is cheap and goes fast. not to mention it has a name that is engraved in american pop culture when refering to cars of speed from its vast history. its not a great car, and its not a bad car, its an icon.

And you want our opinions because?

Get like...a T1 lip or something and paint your sideskirts and blam it looks good and plus it doesn't blow your wad on looks.

GCs and Konis
i/h/e

That should tide you over for a while

Save the rest for a turbo/sc or maybe even a swap, put it in the bank or something.

i live in kelowna, BC Canada, if we get caught street racing, we lose our license for 2 years, adn could have our car impounded...go looks.....girls don't want ot ride in a fast car, it messes their hair. And in the end, isn't it what the ladies think that's important?

maybe you could try and do some of both. get your car looking the way you want it and put some performance shit. definitely go with turbo though. i saw the greddy one that's not all expensive. it's like 1900 or something like that for your car. so you could get that and make your car still look nice you know.
