91 or 92 trans in my 90... help

i recently bought a mystery tranny out of a 90tsi to exchange it for the bad tranny in my 90tsi. when i got the old transmission out of my car, i noticed that the shift levers(where the shifter cables connect to on the tranny) are about 1/2" longer than my old transmission. i cant get the old shifter or base from the donor car. is there anyway i can just swap the shift levers from the original tranny to the new one?

Well I could imagine that as long as they are the same model (tsi) and same year (90) then they would be interchangeable. GL

To swap between 90 and 91-94 trannies you need the bracket, cables, and shifter assembly. I'm not sure swapping the levers would work, even if it wasnt a pain in the ass to do (never tried, but I think they are held on by rust welded roll pins). Wouldn't hurt to try though if you can get them off.
