bad synchro?
ok before i got my new clutch and flywheel put it, my car would grind a lot from 1st to 2nd maybe 80% of the shifts....when i got my new clutch and flywheel, it hasn't grinded at all....and when the 500mile break in period was up, it still didn't grind when i was hitting 7000 rpms....well tonight i hit 7grand and it grinded...i thought maybe i just missed it but i did it again, and yet another grind.....once more on the way home, and another grind....took it around the block, hit 7k once more and it didn't grind...it doesn't grind at all until i get around the higher rpms like 7k...and it seems like my car will grind when it feels like it...could this be a bad synchro? i know it can't be my clutch, flywheel, pressure plate or t/o bearing.

What fluid are you using? Try swapping in some BG Synchroshift and see if that takes care of it. Sounds like the synchro is going (and probably from a poorly adjusted clutch before), the fluid might buy you a few thousand miles before it gets real bad.
How close to the floor does the clutch engage?

ya i would say synchro also,i was stupid one night and did some awd donuts in a gravel lot and went to shift into second and it grinded and did not go in.
PENNZOIL GM SYNCHROMESH WORKS GOOD ALSO,FOUND AT AUTOZONE FOR $4.99 QUART. OUT COME: very stupid thing to do to a perfect awd tranny! now it allways grinds in second,i regret it very dumb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i dunno what fluid is in there but my mechanic said it was synthetic...my clutch engages about 2 inches from the floor.

Get that fluid out of the car unless it is OEM or the two listed above IMO

My tranny just recently started grinding. One night i pulled up beside an identical car to mine. 1990 laser turbo both 5 speeds. Anyways. never felt a grind in this tranny before. then... shifting at 7000 and i felt it a bit... and all im thinkin is shit... here comes the dsm tranny grind again... anyways. It wont stop geting worse. just last week it started grinding while downshifting into 2nd. im gonna change thew fluids in it and if that doesnt help.. out comes the tranny.
