93 grand am won't move - tranny problems

1993 Grand AM - 3T40 transmission - Problems started with not wanting to shift from first to 2nd or 3rd. At this point still had reverse. One day later, we have no gears at all. Fluid level is good and filter was changed about 6 months ago. I did pull off the top cooler line and there is no fluid passing through the radiator with the car running - in or out of gear. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Based on your description I think the transmission has gone bad due to overheating. Since there was no fluid in the cooler the transmission fluid got too hot and caused the clutches to burn up.

Could it be a bad fluid pump or bad filter?

A bad pump is a possibility but it will take a rebuild to repair it. I don't think a filter change will make any difference. With the number of used transmissions out there it would be much cheaper to remove and replace the current one with another rather than to rebuild. There are many places you can find a used transmission on the web. Car-part.com will put you in touch with wrecking yards all over the country and cherry-auto.com can help you find a used transmission per your specifications such as mileage. Good Luck!
