Question ignition wire ?s

you know those wires the dealership installs? the ones with the steel tips that cost a $100? now, do you now those that are colored labeled performance and cost $50 but dont have that steel tip which one is better? does one have an advantage over the other? i think the colored ones would look nice on my engine.

Re: ignition wire ?s

The spark plug wires the dealership has (at least for MK IV and newer) are not a copper core wire like the "performance wires" usually are. To be fully honest, I'm not sure what they're made of but it looks like strands of cloth. Anyway, I've actually had a hard time finding wires that last as long, don't arc out as quickly in wet conditions, deliver the same spark, and fit as well as the OE wires. Sounds lame, and I'm definitely NOT an advocate for OE parts... but in this case I'm gonna say get them from the dealer.
