Testing the EGR valve?

Is anyone aware of a diagnostic test for the EGR valve (for S-10, TBI, 6-cylinder, 4.3l)?

Much obliged

Thanks for your response.

No, it's before 96; it's a 90. A friend just told me there's no way to check it; just replace it, he said. Is that how you see it?

Thanks again.....

Re: Testing the EGR valve?

Have you got any codes? post back code no.
Open egr valve by hand or put a vacume pump on it and see if it affects engine idle.
Post back results and code no.
