Re: Cold Air Intake Question

they're pretty much all the same... I think I heard some where that the ebay ones don't come with all of the parts that they need and that the piping is cheap, but I think as a general consensus they're all very similar

Re: Cold Air Intake Question

They are all teh same, no intake is going to give you noticeably better gains over any other. K&N has a great rep for filtration, but it really doesn't matter. I'd say go by price and size of the filter...cheaper and bigger is better.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Re: Cold Air Intake Question

I bought a full-race intake from ebay... Racedreamz motorsports makes it... it is for the DOHC, and goes down underneath the fender, pulling in more dense/colder air than a short-ram intake, but not much of a difference...

Re: Cold Air Intake Question

woo hoo! another 93 base!

basically, an open element air intake will just allow the engine to breathe a lot easier in the upper rpm range...and consequently, your intake noise will be much louder. almost sounds like an S/C or turbo spooling. but if you add an intake pipe...it only gets louder. not much performance gains, though. go with Igovert's advice, cheaper and bigger.

Re: Cold Air Intake Question

if u read the modding bible or whatever in the FAQ (someone correct me if its elsewhere) it tells you where to get an adapter and a huge ass filter. i went that route and saved a butt load of $ and i'm sure (as everyone says) i got as much of a performance gain from that as i would have got from a k&n or something else. oh yeah be careful taking the stock airbox off of the MAS.
