im assuming its the other persons insurance guy, its no surprise hes gonna try to screw you as much as he can, thats what he does, when you take the car to have it fixed they should be able to tell you what exactly is causing the car not to start, and if the wreck caused that,

Won't the computer shut off the fuel pump as an emergency precaution in the event of a crash? And doesn't this have to be taken care of before it will work again?

I actually don't know, but I know there are plenty of cars that operation like this, so I'd look in to it.

yeah the only thing i could think of in the back of a car that would cause it not to start would be the fuel pump, but you said it got hit hard, depending on how hard, it just as easily could have knocked something loose up front,

then theres always the strange coincedence that something just went out the same time you got in the wreck,
strange, but not impossible, i had a car once that i took somewhere to get the water pump fixed (yes i took it somewhere for just the water pump, kinda hard to do in the street with a foot of snow) and right when i got it back from the shop, i drove it home and it ran like shit, after i shut it off it wouldnt start again, i took it somewhere else and they fixed the ignition module which cured the problem, i dont know if the other place rigged it to fuck up (or how they even would have done it) but i just accept it was a coincedence

I believe there is a switch in the trunk that when you get hit you ahve to reset it. I think its something that you can do yourself, search your trunk for a button.
