87 Crown Vic Fender Removel PLZ HELP!!!
Well I'm allmost done with the restoration of my 87 Crown Vic LX.Now I have the PITA task of adjusting my PS door gap,so I have to remove the Passenger side Front Fender to be able to get to the hinge bolts. On the Fender I have removed the 3 Bolts on the Bottom of the fender, the 2 retaining bolts and the 8 Pushpins which hold the wheelwell to the Fender.Bassically every bolt, screw and pushpin I can find has been removed, the rear of the fender is now loose, but the front is still holding on tight.I dont see any bolts, screws or pushpins holding it from the top,nor can I see or feel anything else that is holding it.I've Spent close to 8 hours trying to figure it out and I'm Stumped as to how to remove it
I dont see any welds anywhere holding it,There has to be some way to remove it without taking off the entire front clip.If anyone has a solution to my problem,or has any suggestions I would greatly appriciate it.Thanks in Advance

The online repair manual at autozone does not require fender removal for
door alignment. Take a look. Hope this helps. |

I've been there before on my '87,and indeed the front fender does have to be removed to access the rear of the door hinges which you can move the door up,down, left, and right to align it.Just be prepared for an extremly patience testing experience, not to mention having to manage all the screws, bolts, nuts, clips and pushpins, and remembering their locations. Here is a short list of all the things you must remove to release the front fender:
-remove front bumper and related pieces -remove headlamps, turn signal lens, and grill -remove front end -remove bolts attaching battery tray and vacuum reservoir for right fender -remove battery, vacuum reservoir, and all grounds, wires etc. attached to right fender -remove screws attaching lower end of fender to cab -remove screws from inside attaching lower end of fender to cowl -remove screws attaching front fender to cowl extension -remove screws attaching fender to apron -remove pushpins attaching fender to wheel well -remove hood hinge from fender -remove hood assist spring to front fender -remove fender Good Luck! |
