Nice. I can't wait until it comes out.

I only wish they had the road car or the LM in the game.

Makes you wonder.....
Why have they not added the F1 and LM when they have a GTR???

The F1 is well known as the best roadcar in the world, I can't understand why the programmers havent included it!!!
They have many great cars in GT4, but with a F1 or LM it would be beyond awersome!

Must be some sort of license trouble???

I think that's what the problem is. They didn't have the roadcar in GT3 so I assume this time around, they could only get the GTR 97. But I am only speculating. Anyone else with info care to elaborate ?

Well the road car was in the "Need for Speed" series, so it's possible that Electronic Arts has some sort of exclusive license with McLaren Cars for using the F1 in games. I know there is someone here who could know more about this, so I'll defer to him since I'm only speculating.

Yes, there was some sort of exlusivity, not sure of the details, but its not exclusively anymore, EA still have rights

For me it's hard to accept that the best driving game ever, does not have the best car ever!

It's one of things that could be "perfect" if things had been a little different!

i think this same deal is why porsche, ferrari, and lamborghini don't appear in any of the gran turismo games. those e.a. bastards.

While I agree that it would be SWEET to have all the varieties of F1 in GranTurismo, I must argue that for their time the Need for Speed series were excellent games. It would be great if EA could release whatever license they may still hold so that other games could make use of the F1.

Re: GTR 97 video.........with one catch

All other racing games are crap compared to the gran turismo series! I think the reason why the nissan skyline is so well known now is partly down to the fact of gran turismo 1!..I beleive it is licensing problems but you never now, if the Fina Longtain is guna be in the game (and it will be due to it being in prologue) MR.Gran Turismo might give us a suprise with hopefully porsche and ferrari!

[EDIT]..hold on just watched one of those videos, the first video where you choose your car and its selected the mclaren. It cant be licneisng problems as there are fully clear, umistakeable "Mclaren" logos and i think if it was a license issue, there would not be aloud the logo, so i think it might be for a suprise that the gtr and lm are not in prologue!

hopefully they won't pull the f1 like they did with the nomad jgtc diablo in gt3.

Come on Peloton...Need for Speed series can't compare with the GT series!

The artificial intelligence in the NFS is so crappy that it's sad and the gameplay is not realistic!

You can actually hold full speed all the time and bump your way to victory in all NFS games! (exept for NFS underground maybe)

When the original Need for Speed games were released featuring the F1, the AI of games like GranTurismo was just a pipe dream. Did you clearly read what I wrote?

"...for their time the Need for Speed series were excellent games."

I still stand by that claim as when those games were introduced they blew the previous series of "Test Drive" games out of the water. Some of you probably aren't old enough to remember those though.

It could still be a licensing issue not allowing them the use of an F1 road car in Gran Turismo. IIRC Electronic Arts never used a GTR in any of their titles, so that license would probably still have been free for the GT4 crew to get. I'm not sure on the LM, but in this case it would require a totally different wire frame model. The only other McLaren they could really use off of this wire frame would be the longtail F1 GT, but I highly doubt we'll see any other McLarens in the game besides the FINA longtail GTR. It would have been nice if they had reproduced a few more of the longtail liveries, but that would have required even more licenses.

there are some mods for EA's F1 Challenge 99-02 that feature mclarens:

http://fiagt1997.racesimcentral.com/cars.html (unfortunately not out yet, but it will hopefully be released in a few months)
http://orspg.com/

a few screenshots:

the good thing about these mods are that they are free; avoiding any licensing-related problems. there are loads of tracks available, and you can customise just about everything.
