My wife recently had a Toyota mechanic tell her this. I am curious as Toyota denies this and since I have a 2000 which is no longer under warranty, I don't know whether I should be looking to trade in. I don't really like the 4th generation as well, so I would much prefer to keep it. Once you get used to the SC, I wouldn't be happy without it on my current vehicle.

Re: Does TRD Supercharger increase chance of blown headgasket?
Anytime you increase the combustion chamber pressure, you increase the likelyhood of blowing a head gasket. However, the 2000 3.4L V6 is really tough and does not blow headgaskets, with or without a S/C. I suppose some will have this problem, but it is generally considered not worth worrying about with this engine. Running lean or damaging your transmission by running it hard are much more common problems.
