A basketball hoop pole, a saws-all, and an idea

Ok, so my friend got his 91 TSI AWD and the exhaust rusted through about 1/4 mile from his house when we were bringing it back. So, we decided the first mods to his car would be new exhaust. We got what we thought was a cat delete pipe and guess what? It wasnt. So then came the catback (both the catback and downpipe are Megan Racing) but there was a big space where the cat was supposed to go. Well, we looked for a good cheap test pipe. We found the $30 ones on eBay, but none were 3". We found ones at meganracing.com and sbr, but they were like $80. None of the exhaust shops around would do it for us, mostly because they are all douche bags. The other day in stats, Mike looks over at me and says, "Hey, I have some random 3.5" piping in my yard." So we devise a plan to turn this 4 foot long 3.5" wide basketball hoop pole into a test pipe. First, we made two cuts on each side of one end of the pole. Then we cut away the two big pieces leaving two tabs. We bent those tabs out and cut slots in them to bolt up to the DP/catback. We then measured the length that the test pipe was supposed to be, cut off the excess pipe, and made the two tabs on the other side. Then out came the aluminum foil to make the gaskets. Sure enough, the bitch bolted right up and guess what... NO LEAKS! Atleast none that we could hear. Heres some pics:

Random piece of 3.5" pipe: $0
Use of dads saws-all and drill: $0
A bunch of mom's aluminum foil: $0
Knowing we made a test pipe with nothing more than a few tools, a pipe, and a half ass idea: Priceless

That's a good use of shit laying around the yard... awesome.

Doesn't look half bad either.
