Pontiac 265 engine

I'm in England UK, and have been offered a Pontiac 265 engine and auto box for my lightweight street rod. (Ford 100e running a blown 2.8 V6 mustang engine at present). I can't find any information about the 265 engine, is it any good ?, tuning parts availability ? etc etc. What is the good and the bad about this engine. Any advice will be appreciated. thanks Steve

Do you know what year it is? I found something, very limited in description, about it being a "thin-walled" engine. There are some sites offering mods for the 1956 Chevy 265 and some specs on that engine, but the Pontiac seems limited. If it is anything like the 301 and 400 than you can probably interchange parts though the heads may flow less than the 400 heads on that 265, assuming they are even interchangeable. It seems to me that parts will be hard to find and expensive as all Pontiac parts seem to be. Let us know if you find anything more about it.

Thanks for your input,.....All I know is that engine was in production in Pontiac Firebirds, I think, between 1980 - 1982. Steve
