cant decide

well my preludes been broken down for 2 weeks now and i still cant figure out whats causing it to stall after 10min of driving. i posted on honda-tech.com about it an got a little help, but didnt fix it. i've already put in a new alternator and battery. i checked out the knock sensor and its perfectly fine. i'm considering buying a 240sx nearby, and i cant decide whether i should keep trying to fix the lude or drop 1800 on that 240. its in good condition and has 120k miles on it. maybe sell the prelude as is or fix it, then buy the 240. i dont hav the money to take it to a shop. what do you guys think?

Re: cant decide

no codes. one of the guys in the 240 forum told me he had the same problem with his GSR, he said it was the fuel pump. so i'm gonna take a look at it later this week. i might just fix it and buy the 240 or a 300 i found.

Re: cant decide

yeah, 10 to 15min. i had a friend whos a mechanic come look at it. he told me the bearing in the crank is fucked and might have a cracked piston. so, i'm either gonna fix and sell it, or sell it as is to someone who wants to fix it. i need a new car, i'm tired of bumming rides to work.

Re: cant decide

you would know if something was fucked up internally. Have you called the dealership to see if you have had the igntion recall done?

Re: Re: cant decide

possibility it's the pgm-fi? have you looked into that? with the car running, tap around the area where the pgm-fi main relay is (i believe it's to the left of the steering wheel sorta under the dash.. but i've never had pgm-fi probs myself, so i've never actually located it).... if your car shuts off chances are your pgm-fi could use replacement/soldering. there is a relay in there that closes the energization switch to the fuel pump, if that is cutting out, the fuel pump wouldn't get power, hence no fuel, hence car shuts off...

In any case, my recommendation is that you definetley fix this problem before you sell your car - otherwise you're gonna have one pissed off customer who will most likely make his way back to your house 10 mins down the road (: haha.

best of luck.
