VW Jetta A/C problem

I have a 2000 VW Jetta with no A/C . The condensor fan turns on when I press the "A/C" button but no power to the clutch. I've checked the ambient temp sw & the hi pressure switch for continuity. (OK). I've also replaced the cooling fan control module. Still no luck. My A/C gauge set shows approx. 80 lbs. pressure in the system. I cant seem to be able to find the " Hi coolant temp. cut out sw" to check that.

Re: VW Jetta A/C problem

Are there any engine codes stored or is the CEL on?

No stored codes pertaining to the A/C. Just an inactive "overboost" code that has been fixed...

Re: VW Jetta A/C problem

Certain engine codes will prevent the A/C from coming on, I'm unsure if that one would. I'd clear it anyway (free at most Autozone type stores). I'll look up the sensor location.

Thanks! I've looked up the sensor location in my "Bently" manual & it's supposed to be in the "Upper T hose between the cyl head & the radiator" but there's nothing there. VW must have stuck it somewhere else......
