Question 750il rear toe problem

My rear wheels are toed out, wearing out tires in 300o miles. Had the car up on a rack, no evidence of suspension damage, rear alignment is not adjustable. Any suggestions? Are offeset or adjustable bushings available?

Rear Toe

I have just overcome this very problem, first you will need to check the rear ride height, if your car is equipped with LAD rear struts, these are adjustable, (Full instruction can be given on how to adjust) If your car is equipped with standed shock assorbers, it is possible that these need replacing...........this was one of the problems i had with mine, the second problem i had was tht one of my rear wishbones was bent, this could not be detected by eye,--I replaced the wishbone and the struts, the car ride height increased and I have stopped burning the inside of my tyres out -------hope this helps, Dez

750il Toe

All 750s have load leveling rear suspension, the early years, 1988-1992 are LAD (hydaulic and the PS pump provides fluid to the PS, the brake servo (no pneumatics here) and the rear struts. What year is your 750, as year and build date are important in any post.

Load Leveing Shocks

Replacement shocks are available through internet suppliers but they are pricey. Example, my 1988 750 had LAD shocks and I had to replace one at a cost (for the shock BOGE-SACHS) of $350.

Lad/edc

Here in CONUS the EDC for your car is in the $500.00 range. This is a complete assembly, you disconnect the electrical lead, take out strut, remove sping and place on new strut, replace strut assembly in car and hook up the electical connector.

Toe problem

I do not believe so. There are LAD removal kits that requiree you to replace the strut and spring assembly but I do not believe you can do this with EDC.

Euro Spec and USA Parts

I see no reason why USA parts will not work for your car as the majority of them are of European manufacturer (BOGE/BEHR/SACHS/BOSCH) as examples.

Re: 750il rear toe problem

Hi Bear,
Thank you for your advice, do you have any recommendation where to shop for the parts.
The reason why I asked was becasue I heard the Specifications of the Car was difference comparing US and EU. For example, the horse power is different, and in US most of the BMW can change the super chips but not for EU version.
Anyway, thank you for your help. It was so difficult to find parts in Hong Kong, the only way is go back to the genuine parts but they are so expensive. Look forward to hear from you Bear.
Once again, thank you for your assistance.
Cheers
Punchedcastle
