99 Limited Stereo Replacement

I just bought a Kenwood DPX-MP4070 to replace my factory (double din) unit. Has anyone replaced their factory unit with another double din? I would like to know if I need to purchase any adapters (other than the wire harness) or if the new unit will just slide in. Also, any pointers on removing the wood trim from the dash?

Thanks!

Re: 99 Limited Stereo Replacement

i have a 96 and i put in a kenwood double din head unit. it's been a while, but i think the wood trim is held on with clips. just be careful. i took mine off by prying it off with a screw driver. i think i remember taking off the plates for the air conditioning switches and what ever was near there. i think i bought only the harness and the kit with all the wires. sorry, it's been a long time and my memory isn't that good.

Thanks, I actually tried (and succeeded) removing the trim with just my hands and it came out fairly easily. My new unit should come in today. Can't wait!

Did you ever figure out what that smaller antenna wire is for?

My power antenna will not work with my new Kenwood cd player, any suggestions?

The second antenna is a diversity antenna. It is kind of a backup antenna but is not really necessary. I am not using it and the radio reception is fine. As far as the power for your antenna, there should be a separate wire to power it. I had to splice it into my harness and everything works great.
