|
please help possible head gaskets leak
today i was driving form school and i had the heat on full(i am in upstate ny ) out of no were i started to smell coolent and then i saw smoke. when i parked it i open the hood and saw that there was a drop of coolent leaking form my heater core. when i came bad i saw that the coolent was comeing form the passehger side of the engine and was comng from were the head meets the engin block is. how can i fix this and what will i need for the job thanks (96 cavalier 2.2 4 dr)

If you blew a head gasket it would be running real bad. If the head gasket is only leaking to the exterior of the engine, try some stop leak. Be aware that stop leak cak cause overheating if you use too much. Personally I think more likely you have a leaking heater hose. Trace it down, you will need to fix it, stop leak will not fix a bad hose. Good Luck.

Sounds like a blown head gasket. Unbolt the head, scrape off the old gasket, install a new gasket, bolt head to specs. .... If you are not sure how to do these things, bring it to a garage.
I would NOT recommend Stop Leak to fix the problem. It will temporary at best, and at worst, will cause more problems than you already have. |

thanks it has to be a linking head gasket casue coolents is comign out form one side of the ehgine and all the hoses are good. will i need the intake gastket tbody gasket and the exsakt gasket sorry about spelling
