Oil Check Valve Fell Out
If it weren't for bad luck, my Son would have no luck at all.
Yesterday he was changing the oil & filter on his 95 4.3. With the old oil filter removed, as he was lining up the new filter threads to screw it on he said he felt something fall on top of the new filter. It looks like a small check valve that that would be pressed into the oil filter mount. I tapped it back in place but not sure how long its gonna stay there. Comments and suggestions welcome. Thanks, Gene |

I've actually never noticed a checkvalve on the cooler, but if that's the case, and it refuses to stay in, I would hit a boneyard and pick up another oil cooler block. Damn, now I'm gonna have to look at mine...

Re: Oil Check Valve Fell Out
I understand that some oil filters have a built in check valve.
Find out which one would work and you might be laughing |

Re: Oil Check Valve Fell Out
That valve bypasses the filter only. There is another valve in the block that will bypass in the event of a plugged cooler, or when oil is too thick to flow through the hoses.
