battery question

Hi, I own a 1993 325i se 24valve auto 4-door saloon.
does anyone know why there are two positive cables on the battery? One large and one small; the battery is situated in the boot. They travel forward together, must be a reason !! any ideas? Mick. [email protected]

The smaller one could for the fusebox.

one is for the starter and the other for all other electrical.
