Engine shut down completely

I've X5, 2001... Since last two days I'm seeing a wiered problem. My car engine shut down completely when I stop at stop light. It happened two three times and then ran normal again. Same thing happened today again... Any one has any clue, what can be a problem??

Re: Engine shut down completely

r we talking complete electrical failure i.e not lights on das when car cuts out or is it just the engine that stops? What type of engine? petrol? diesel? 3.0? 4.4? etc.

Re: Engine shut down completely

Check the air intake pipe, where it attaches to the throttle. It is held on by a jubilee clip. They sometimes come adrift causing a massive air leak and engine stalls.

How many miles do you have on your truck and what other problems have you incurred?
