Question interior lights click off at dusk and back on at 8 a.m

I've noticed a few Aurura owners have had the same problem we're experiencing. Our dash lights click off at 5 p.m each day-sooner when the time changes for us in Canada. I've seen posts regarding the twilight sentinel and wondered if any other owners of 1998 Auroras have experienced this and what did they do to solve the problem It's very annoying trying to drive at night with no interior dash lights available. The same problem is there in the morning until about 8 a.m. then everything clicks back on. This includes the radio, ac buttons-everything on the inside! Your help with this would be appreciated.
Thanks you joner54

There is a plug that is connected to your stereo ( a black plug that plugs into a big blue plug). That controls your dash lights at night. If you have installed an aftermarket stereo or have a problem with the factory stereo, then that is what the problem most likely is. As strange as it sounds, that is the problem. If your stereo situation is fine, then try wiggling or fiddling with that plug.

Hi madbusiness-thanks for the reply. I shall pass this along to my husband and see if it helps. I'll let you know. joner54

Hi Randy44-I wish I could say we found the solution but so far we haven't! There seems to be alot of us(98 owners) having the same problem-kind of a strange coincidence don't you think? I wonder if anyone has bit the bullet and had a new sensor put in? The strange thing about our car is the instrument lights can be turned on after dusk when you first get in the car but as soon as you put it in reverse they're gone! I hate driving at night with no lights so if ANYONE has fixed this problem-PLEASE let the rest of us know what you did! If we EVER find a solution I promise we will pass it along. We did try the previous post-re the plug-that was unsuccessful-but we're going to try again-got nothing to loose! joner54
