messed up big time
I installed a prostart remote car starter in my 92 cavalier. I didn't hook up the power locks or the trunk cause i wanted to see if i could just get the car to start...it did...got it working good so i thought i would hook up the power locks....didn't work....now when i start my car and try to put it in gear the gear shifter will not move(automatic). so i disconnected the remote starter and it still won't go into any gear.
i would like to get my car into gear and reinstall the remote starter without the power lock option. any ideas what it could be? thanks |

Re: messed up big time
i dont see how a remote start can cause the shifter to NOT work...you sure its not just a coincidence that maybe a switch from the brake to the shifter is broken and the starter had nothing to do with it...cuz its when you depress the brake that allows the shifter to move...i dont see the starter affecting the brakes.

i replaced the brake switch and that wasn't the problem....so i thought that i would check the fuses because i realized my brake lights were'nt working....blew the fuse so i replaced it and now everything is working perfect...wish i would have checked that in the first place.
