my crx decided not to start after i pulled out my head unit, i changed the main relay, and it still doesn't start. the car cranks and everything, i was wondering if anyone had the same problem. i also checked all fuses. anyone know what might of happened? thanks.

p.s. - anyone know how to check the fuel pump?

if the fuel pump is priming you would hear a hum before you started cranking the car, you should also hear the mai relay click.

Did you check the main fuse under the hood?

i checked the fuel pump, it's working. could the main fuse be the problem why the car isn't starting?

yes, that could be it, sometimes a car will crank but not fire cuz of a bad relay.

I'd check the distributor just for the hell of it. Those things are known to go randomly. I've heard of people going into a gas station or something and when they come out the car doesn't start anymore because the dist. went bad, it just randomly goes like that. Mine was nice enough to go out on me while i was driving.

Did you disconnect the battery before you pulled the head unit out? Could be as simple as a corroded or loose battery terminal.

I'd check the fuse itself before actually buying a new one. You said you pulled the stereo, did you yank the wires. A lot of the circuits run in and out of the ECU. Any ground wire that breaks connection within a circuit can disrupt the whole thing.

Re: help! need any advice

how do you check the main fuse? it's the black square thing under the fuse box cover right? and no at the time i was stupid enough not to pull out the battery terminal. got a new battery, head unit and others still work. is there any ground beside it? if so please let me know, thanks.

p.s. - my brother thinks it's because i didn't take out the battery terminal, and prob messed up the main fuse while i was working on the head unit. anyone think it's the same? also imma get a new fuel filter too,

Re: help! need any advice

i just replaced the fuel filter, it still didn't start. but it sounded like it was about to, the car actually puttered while i was trying to start it. on the manual, it said it also could be injector resistor, does that sound about right?

p.s. - one important thing. when my car was working, it would over heat sometimes when i punch it and then it'll go back down once i let go. but it would only over heat once in a while.
