Unhappy Selling Eclipse, Getting Civic

Well, there's so much wrong with my 93 Eclipse, that I'm selling it and getting a.....Civic. I bought my Eclipse for $1,700, but it's going to cost $2000-3000 to fix. I feel like Judas and that I've just betrayed Christ on this one. But due to gas prices, insurance, and me still being in high school, I really think this is the best choice. I'll go out and get an AWD Eclipse or IROC-Z after high school I guess. Ya'll feelin me on this one? Anybody ever done/thought about doing this?

Agreed.

Gas mileage is not that bad in these cars if you keep up the maintenance on them. I get close to 35 mpg on the interstate and 25/26 average after I switched to a stronger coil, thicker plug wires, and iridium plugs. Then keep the oil changed and air filter clean, and drive it decent, and you will get decent mileage. So if your only reason is for gas mileage, then think twice.

Well gas mileage isn't really a concern. Really, it would cost more to fix up the car than it would to buy a turbo eclipse. But gas mileage is a concern since I have to drive about 20 miles both ways from home to school and from school to work. I really can't complain about the gas mileage, but if I'm having to get something, then why not go ahead and get something that handles the gas better? $6.50/hour doesn't leave a whole lot of room for a great car plus mods, and since they're very low maintenance I won't have to worry about blowing money on that. By NOOOO means am I going to even fathom racing this car. I'd rather die than be caught trying to race in a Civic. It's basically going to hold me over so that I can save money for another Eclipse. After that, I'll dump it.

I only get 6.50 and I can still pay for my mods, gas, insurance, food, clothes, mortgage, etc. Try workin more

-But if you are looking for a more conservative car a civic would be more pratical. I would probably have a lot more extra if I never had bought an eclipse but hey it still seems worth it some how...

I dont blame you. I like Civic's but I love DSM way too much to get a Honda. Good luck man.

Re: Selling Eclipse, Getting Civic

So yeah....not to sound like a complete hipocrite, but I'm actually thinking about getting a Prelude if I can afford it. I really didn't think they were as nice as they really were and still had the Honda reliability. So I'm possibly the worst Eclipse owner ever....but oh well. The VTEC makes almost the same power as a turbo Eclipse, but with a bit less torque from a n/a engine. Please don't flame me...haha. I'll let ya'll know how it goes, but I'm still coming here for performance tips because you guys (and girls) are about the best to come to, I'll just let you think I still have an Eclipse.

Did you seriously just say the vtec makes almost the same amount of power as a turbo eclipse? Also I test drove a prelude and I dono what all the hype is, to me it felt slow but better than most other hondas though.
