95 Cutlass Supreme torque converter clutch sticking

I have a 95 Olds Cutlass Supreme that sometimes will lug the engine, sputter around and barely run when slowing down, turning corners, etc. The check engine light came on and I punched it up on the computer and got a trouble code of

P0742A TCC system stuck on

I found out this means the torque converter clutch, but what can I do about it? I changed the transmission fluid/filter not too long ago. Would a can of transmission treatment possibly free this up, or could it possibly be electrical, etc? I'm not much of a transmission guy, so I need some guidance on this one.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Re: 95 Cutlass Supreme torque converter clutch sticking

I doubt that anything short of disconnecting the solenoid or replacing it will correct the problem. If the solenoid is stuck on then the PCM/ECM has sent a signal to it at one point but it has failed to release. You could try some seafoam or lucas trans additive but I think this is probably electrical in nature and the solenoid will need to be replaced. Really not a DIY job, you may want to take it to a tranny shop and get their opinion.
