Question ls all motor

i am wondering is it worth the trouble to go all motor (with no vtec) in a ls... i no u can do the basic i/h/e and camshafts but will the internal upgrades give you significant power???...i was looking to get around 200 hp all motor and i dont no if its worth it...ohh and low 14's in the 1/4....thanks

200? at the fly or to the wheels?

200whp in an integra can get you pretty close to a 14 flat. But other variables must be taken into account. Is the car a manual? Does it have LSD? Does it have suspension mods? Can u drive?
The last is the most important. A fast car is nothing w/o a decent driver.

Re: ls all motor

oh yeah....you asked if internal upgrades increase power? Well if youre going all-motor then thats where ALL the power is to be gained. I say that if you want an extremely fast car go turbo but if youre going for cool/uniqueness go all motor.

Re: ls all motor

Yes you can hit that i've seen a LS setup hit that granted it was pretty crazy build up was in the mid 13s if i remember.

Honestly there are much better and cheaper ways to make power but don't be fooled the LS can do well the key is HEADWORK porting&polishing and cams really open up the LS motor.

One upgrade that works wonders but doesn't effect your motor is a tranny swap LS trannys gears are long for cruising and highway mileage putting a y21 from a 99-00SI or a GSR tranny will help you alot.

I would either look into forced induction or an LSVTEC setup if want 200 and still pretty close to stock.

Aiming for 200 WHP N/A on an LS will put you near a race car short highend powerband and very high compression. But if you want to we can help with that or any other build up you'd like.

real nice head my friends shop has for sale.
http://www.quickwhips.com/sale.htm
that head and the intake mani is a good start you'll need a new set of cams
as I said before Headwork Headwork Headwork.

It'll cost alot to get it there range few thousand honestly. But N/A F/I whatever getting more air in the LS does wonders.

Re: ls all motor

Stong rods, crower rods are great...and you want to raise your compression fron the 9.2:1 to 12:1

With this you have four options:
1.Keep stock bore
2.Keep Stock Stroke
3.Bore the block
4.stroke it...Larger crank, shorter stroke, bigger bore
If i was gonna go all motor this would be the route i would go...But it costs money to go fast, and if not built correctly it can get unreliable.
get some nasty cams with a high duration, raise compression, get hondata, and tune, tune, tune. You will see some serious power. and it will cost serious money.
Good luck

For less than the cost of a 200 WHP all motor LS setup you can build a 300 WHP turbo setup.

turbo > all motor

Not without a VTEC head. Even then it's iffy.

Re: ls all motor

Why must there always be the onslaught of OMG BEWST PWNZORZ ALLMOTO.

Most people know this he stated he was looking for all motor gains. I know your all trying to help but its like if I walked into Burger King made an order and you told me you know there is a great steak house down the street.

Slow99 gave some great ideas for gains for 1500 total i'd look into that head I linked you too and cams or you can look into F/I as brought up before a vtec head swap might also be nice some good gains cheap now and will help N/A or F/I setups heck that might be all you want and call it a day even.

Last thing, if you ditch the axle back get a full catback exhaust free up some power for you.

Re: ls all motor

you need a vtec head so you have to remove your old LS head. its the reliability part thats going to make a ls/vtec setup expensive.
