88 Jeep brake light switch connections
Hi everyone. My brake lights (on recently purchased Jeep) are not working so I called Auto Zone & they told me it was probably the brake light switch as I had already checked all the fuses. I purchased the switch, read my Haynes manual & proceeded to swap it out. While under the dash, I noticed a loose wire connection. It has one red & one blue wire. The blue wire is broken off at the connection. The loose connection looks almost identical to the one that is already plugged in to the switch. My question is this: Is the "loose connection" supposed to go to the switch also. In other words, should the switch have TWO sets of connections plugged in to it? If so, how do I fix the broken wire?

The brake light switch should have two connections: One Pink coming from the fuse panel (hsould be your red one) and one Lt Blue one that goes to your brake lights. You should be able to get connectors at the parts store to repair the wire.

Re: 88 Jeep brake light switch connections
Thank you, wwwildman. I did get this fixed. There are two connections, one for brakes and one for cruise control which come in to the switch. One of mine was disconnected with a broken wire. I spliced a new connector to it & now it's all good. My current post is on trying to fix the neutral safety switch. Thanks for the help.
