Idle control valve

Is it difficult to replace it? Would it require any reprogramming?
My Ls is a V6 and they were telling me that I would have to make sure that the throttle body was closed. When replacing it would it be closed automatically or would I have to do anything special to it?

Re: Idle control valve

Both questions could depend on the model and year of your car. Yes, I know you posted in the Lincoln LS forum, but I've seen mis-postings before. Do you have the V-8 or the V-6?

Typically, they are not hard to replace, but the valve is usually fairly pricey. I doubt there would be any programming involved.

Thumbs up IAC Replacement

I have the 3.9L V8 and it is pretty simple to replace. All it requires a 8mm socket and extension. It would be easier with a flexable socket if you have one. It is located right by the throttle body and has 2 plastic tubes connected to it at a 90 degree. They just squeeze off and pull-simple. and then disconnect electrical connector. No reprogramming required. By the way I justed pulled my off and cleaned it with air intake cleaner and some compressed air and worked fine now. You may want to try that first. Sometimes they just get carbon buildup inside and dont let the pintle move freely.
