93 Olds Cutlass Brake Light

The brake lines on the rear of my 93 cutlass supreme let go . Damb rust. anyway. No ABS or anything on this car.
I just replaced the rear brake lines to both wheels and from the middle of the car. I also replaced the flex hoses.
I have bleed the brakes from the rear right wheel to the front two wheels as well.
The brake light is still on.
When I unplug the sensor on the Master Cylinder it goes off.
There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with anything. No leaks lots of fluid.
Is there somthing that I have to reset.

Thanks in advance.

Re: 93 Olds Cutlass Brake Light

Since you lost all the brake fluid you will need to bleed the master cylinder in order to get the light to go away. There is a switch that registers when fluid gets too low and turns on the light. To turn the switch on there is a piston inside the proportioning valve that moves in the direction of the lower pressure to turn the light on. In order to get this to go off you will need to reset it by bleeding the master cylinder. Once you do that you will have to bleed the brakes again both front and rear.

could simply be that the computer doesnt know the problem has been fixed.....you can reset it by disconnecting the batter..i think the disconnecting the positive (red) terminal for about 30 seconds to a couple minutes should do it. usually thats done so then you dont have to reset your clock and radio and all..but i could be wrong about that..you can also disconnect the negative (black) if you want..
