lift bars for an F-body

I've done some reading about lift bars for the F-body and am considering them for my '84 Trans Am. I have some questions maybe you folks might know the answers to.

1- with lift bars- does the torque arm need to be removed?

2- Do lift bars reduce handling abilities? (I understand they are designed to load the axle for drag racing applications)

3- are lift bars bad for street applications? Or is it overkill and not needed?

I just want to be sure I wouldn't be purchasing anyhting not necessary or that might hinder current performance.

goal is performance street with occasional track use.

Thanks
