Fuel Efficiency Optimization Mission

I don't know about you guys but I'm doing everything I can think of to get the most mpg out of my 86 Si.

Luckily, I already get 24.5 mpg in rigorous city driving with the a/c on; that's on 87 Shell (best gas!!) regular with a 1$ bottle of O'Reilly octane booster in the tank, they currently have a sale going, 3 bottles for 3$ for I think roughly 3 points rise in octane.

That figure also includes a new set of MSD 8.5 Super Conductor wires, head port & polish, 3 angle valve job, short ram air intake, Royal Purple 10 w 30 synthetic oil, Wix oil filter and NGK V-Power (BPREY6) sparkplugs gapped at .045; stock distributor and coil.

I've just tonight ordered a set of Torque Master spark plugs which have a 360 degree .120" gap. Those things will really be humming once I get a 6A box and a coil. I've owned a set of Torque Master's before and was very happy with them, even with their $12.50 each price.

Hopefully, my tire theory (60 series to 65 series) will pull through for me and that will add a small increase in overall gearing..it'll all add up.

The way I see it..the way things are going, it's all an investment, and I'm really attached to my Lude..there's no way I'm giving it up for a Hybrid or a Corolla..

I'm waaay upside down on my car so it's only beneficial for me to hang on to it as long as possible, plus I really enjoy driving it!

Once I get the entire package completed I'll post any gains in mileage that I experience.

If any of you are bored reading this, it's cause I'm old school, and I'm just old. I don't give a rat's ass about V-tec. I like my 3 valve head A20! It's a very underrated engine.

Greg
