CRX hatch wont stay locked

i have been having a problem with the hatch on my crx, it will shut but it wont latch i push and push and nothing. I had to take off my rear panel and use a key to get the lock to clip it took me two hours to do it. i dont know if something is bent but it looks like it dosent go down all the way into the clip and it gets stuck on itself. any ideas before i break it any more.

Have you ever been hit from behind? I had the same problem with my hatch,Turns out that it was the striker. It was off center and pushed back a bit. With a rubber hammer and a 2x4, I gently nugged it back into place. Hope it helps you. Good Luck.

yea before i got my car it was in a rear ender but the hatch shut fine up untill a few days ago. are you talking about the gold hook? thanks for your reply.

Yeah I'm talking about the gold latch. If your hatch is not closing all the way then something may be off center or bent. If the hatch closes but does not lock then maybe you should put some grease or some kinda' loob.(he..he...loob=) Does the locker on the hatch move easily or is it kinda ruff?
To save you headaches you could just take it to a bodyshop. They could probably fix it in a matter of minutes. It sould'nt cost more than $20 to fix.
