Who here is familiar with redundant power supplies?

Alright, so I'm currently assembling the parts needed for my new computer, as it's been several years since I built my current one, and it's time to update (see my other thread about PCI-E.)

At any rate, I picked up this beautiful server case from an Ebay aucton, this baby has 8 bays, three fans, and a whole suite of impressive stuff

not to mention I got a great deal on it (I opened it up tonight -- the thing is a beast.) It also has a redundant power supply (2X300 watt units.) So, I'm aware of the fact that they are designed so one picks up if the other one fails. What I'm wondering is, whether or not it's possible to combine the power of the two supplies (without frying the docking unit) I mean, if I turned them both on at the same time, would I then be producing 600 watts? If so then I'd (theoretically) have some 24A available on that crucial 12v lead, allowing me to provide adaquate power for a 20pin to 24pin adapter needed to support my soon-to-be-arriving MSI Neo4 PCI-E mobo and any components I'll be plugging into the PCI-E slots (including a video card.) I think I'll probably just end up picking up a new power supply with the ATX 2.03 standard and the additional SATA/4-pin 12v connector anyways, but DAMN if this redundant one I have doesn't just look friggin sweet. I'd love to be able to use it if I could...
